Have you ever felt like you were so busy that you realize you haven’t spent time reading the Bible like you want to? So busy that your main prayers are at meal time and bedtime? Let me reassure you that you are not alone. Today, let us look at some ways that can help us prioritize prayer time.
Before we look at easy ways to prioritize our prayer life, we need to first understand why prayer is important. When you open your Bible to Luke 5:16, you will read how Jesus withdrew to lonely places to pray. If He spent time in prayer, then we know that it is important for us to spend time in prayer. I know this can be hard sometimes when there is so many things going on in our life. From work, chores, family time, sports, church, small groups, and more, it can be easy to push our prayer time to the end each day. You are not alone. Sometimes people go through highs and lows with their prayer life. I remember in high school, I felt like I spent more time in prayer. Since it is the new year, it is the best time to make prayer time a priority. Here are 4 different ways that you can make your prayer time a priority. Remember you need to find the way that works best for you. If you try one way and it doesn’t help, try another way. We are in this together; let’s encourage each other to make this new year a year where we grow in our prayer life. A year that we grow closer to God.

Journaling
The first idea is to keep a journal with prayer requests and answered prayers. I have enjoyed writing the date of the prayer request and the leaving space to come back when the prayer is answered. I have used a journal before and used the left pages for Bible verses and the right side pages for prayer requests. With this method, you can come back to it and see how the Lord has answered your prayers.
Prayer jar
The second choice is a prayer jar. It can be something you have at home. It can be a jar, beautiful bowl, or a decoration with an opening. With this choice, you will write your prayer requests and answered prayers on small strips of paper. You can keep it anywhere in the house to remind you to pray. Dining room table, desk, nightstand, prayer closet, or another place you have in mind that will help you to remember to pray. I have read how some people use this idea for a grateful jar or good things through the year and at the end of the year, you read them to celebrate.
Photo album with index cards
I was thinking one day, what if I took a small photo album and used it for prayer requests? I started one, and it is helpful. One thing I like about this choice is I can easily add pictures of people that I am praying for. You can easily use an album you have at home. You can get one from and store like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, TJ Max, or Dollar Tree.
Prayer Printables
The next choice is prayer printables. There are many different printables that can help organize prayer time. Join my newsletter to get a free printable that you can print to keep track of prayer requests and when they are answered. Printables can be kept in a notebook, binder, or a journal.
